Actors are usually famous for starring in certain film genres. For example actors such as Keira Knightley are known for starring in period dramas whereas actors such as Steve Carrel and Seth Rogen are classed as comedy actors. But can these actors step out of their comfort zones and actually act?

It is proved that they both can in their new films roles. Steve Carrel in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World opposite Keira Knightley and Seth Rogen in Take This Waltz opposite Michelle Williams.

Take This Waltz tells the story of Margot, a happily married woman who falls for her neighbour in which Seth plays Lou, Margot’s husband.

Seth has also stepped away from his comedy role in 50/50 opposite Joseph Gordon Levitt a true story centered on a 27 year old man who learns of his cancer

Steve Carell is also a famous comedy actor who once again stepped out of his comedy roots to star in Seeking a Friend for the end of the World as Dodge who finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic as an asteroid nears Earth. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his childhood sweetheart accompanied by his neighbour Penny.

He also stars in Hope Springs a story about a couple who after thirty years of marriage attend an intense counselling session to work out their relationship.

These two actors alone prove that they can step out of their comfort zones and can still be successful actors even in serious roles.
